Nizoral (Ketoconazole)
General information
Nizoral is an antimycotic antibiotic. It is used to treat infections caused by fungus, which can invade any part of the body including the mouth, throat, esophagus, lungs, bladder, or skin.
Nizoral may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Directions
Take Nizoral exactly as it was prescribed for you. The drug works best if you take it with food at the same time daily. The suggested dose for adults is 200 mg once daily. Dose for children in 2 years is based on body weight and consist a single daily dose of 3.3 to 6.6 mg/kg. Children up to 2 years take the medicine only after doctor's permission.
Precautions
You may have unpleasant side effects such as dark urine, tenderness, sickness, decreased appetite, rash, headache, tumor or yellow eyes. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
Contraindications
Don't use it if you have allergic reaction to componets. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for additional information.
Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of nettle rash, difficulty breathing, giddiness, breaker heartbeat, asthenia, confusion, stomach pain or jaundice. Consult your doctor for additional information.
Drug interaction
The medicine cooperates with acetaminophen, cyclosporine, digoxin, tacrolimus, loratadine, methylprednisolone, rifampin, diabetes medication, cancer medications, birth control pills, cholesterol medications or medications to treat HIV or AIDS. If necessary seek emergency medical help at once.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Overdose symptoms are unknown. Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Do not use after expiration term.
